Emma’s
Strange Hobbies
As
a child, Emma was very smart. She loved
schoolwork more than anything else not only because she was good at it, but
also because she worked hard at it. On
the weekend girls her age would be out playing, but not Emma, she was
determined to get the good grades.
Sometimes for fun she would play Sudoku, solitaire, or if she was
feeling like having a lot of fun she might wipe out a word search or even a
crossword puzzle. But though Emma was
very smart when it came to schoolwork but didn’t have the best common sense. Emma got very amused at some things, she
loved draping plastic bags or paper bags over here face and run into things,
she also loved sticking her head out of the window when she was sitting it the
car. Emma and I are quite close and
always tells me about that special bush or tree that she clipped earlier in the
day. I sit, pretending to be
interested. Sometimes she might tell me
about that sweet new paper and or plastic bag she loves tossing over her
head. I will never forget the day that my
Aunt Catherine (Emma’s mom) picked Emma and I up from school when we were in 6th
grade. We hopped in the car very
energetically just waiting to go back to Emma’s house and mess around til the
Destroyer (what me and Emma call my mother) could come and pick me up. Emma’s house is fairly close to Episcopal,
however some roads get pretty close to some signs and trees while driving on
the road. Once Cath hits 50mph Emma
flies her head out of the window, mouth open wide, arms stretched out, eyes
closed, just waiting to clip something.
She nicks a couple of tree along 252 but nothing to crazy. However when we turn onto S. Leopard road, it
gets a little tight and a truck was coming down the other lane. There was a 45mph sign about 30yrds ahead and
the truck was about 60yrds. Emma’s head
was still out the window and Aunt Catherine swerved away from the huge garbage
truck and then…. BOOM!!
